Durham

City of Durham Food Waste Collection Pilot - The city is currently in Phase 2 of a Food Waste Collection Pilot that involves 500 households in select areas. They accept hard-to-compost materials like meats, bones, & dairy. They do not accept certified compostable packaging.

Guilford County

Front Porch Compost - based in Summerfield, NC. Offer plans for household starting at $15/mo. They also service businesses.

Henderson County

Convenience Center - they have 8 collection bins for food waste collection located at 191 Transfer Station Drive, Hendersonville, NC 28791

Orange County (Chapel Hill, Carrboro & Hillsborough)

Food Waste Drop-Off Sites - five different locations for Orange County residents only:

Subsidized composting for businesses - Orange County Solid Waste offers free compost collection services for businesses generating at least 500 lbs of food waste per week. Contact them at recycling@orangecountync.gov for more information.

Raleigh
